“What is Flatbush Theater Project?” —In our students’ own words.

We are currently enrolling for our Prequel, Middle School ( 5th to rising 8th grade) and High School (9th to 12th) Fall 2023 Intensives.

  • Prequel ‘23 will meet for 8 weeks, Thursdays and Sundays beginning October 19th.

  • Middle School ‘23/ ‘24 will meet for 12 weeks Wednesdays and Fridays beginning October 18th

  • High School ‘23/ ‘24 will meet for 14 weeks Mondays and Tuesdays beginning October 16th*

*We are committed to providing equitable access to the performing arts and are working to partner with community organizations to help with reduced tuition and/or payment plans for financially vulnerable families. **Refund Policy. A cancellation notice must be made in writing by the same person who registered for the workshop. A cancellation notice received more than two months prior to the event date is subject to a full refund, or space in a future Flatbush Theater Project Workshop can be scheduled one time within a year from the date that the original reservation was made, not the event date. (The payment would act as a deposit toward upcoming programming which may have higher tuition). A cancellation notice received less than two months prior to the event date is subject to a full refund, but only when the dates have been reserved by another paying customer for the full fee with no opportunity to reschedule. In the event, that another paying customer does not enroll in your child’s place, you’ll receive a 75% refund.

About Alexis Spiegel

I am a Teaching Artist who, since 2014, has developed and led a course in games-based improvisational theater at Oasis Day Camp in Central Park, P.S. 54 and P.S. 340 in the Bronx, and P.S. 346, P.S. 279, and P.S.151 in Brooklyn. From 2017 through 2020, I also tutored children and teens with reading challenges, seeing and working with most of my students every weekday, through great days and harder ones. I’m also a playwright. I earned my MFA in Playwriting from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2014, and I’m the author of Honeoye (presented by the Dramatists Guild, 2015), co-author (and co-actor), with playwright Stacey Rose, of The Black Jew Thing (Mosaic Theater Company of DC, September 2016), and most recently Huma Dreams: A Hindsight Play (Dixon Place, February 2020) , and other plays.

About Kelah

Kelah Winfield is a dedicated actress with a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for the craft of theater. With a BFA in Theater from New York University, Kelah has received training at Playwrights Horizons Studio, Strasberg, and Stonestreet. She has demonstrated her talent through projects such as “Inexistent”, a feature film that earned her the title of “Best Actress” at the Black Film Festival in Atlanta- and her most recent project, “The First 30 Days”, currently making its way through the film festival circuit. Alongside her roles as an Assistant, Co-Instructor, and Line Producer at Flatbush Community Theater, Kelah supports emerging talent, sharing her knowledge and fostering growth, while nurturing her own artistic journey.

About Soleil Biyong

Soleil Biyong is the lead producer at Flatbush Community Theater. Coming on board in March of 2022, Soleil fills many roles, including but not limited to, photographer, videographer, and social media manager.
